I am sad as the allium season is drawing to a close…………………………as it has been quite hot just recently, my garden alliums have now gone over to their seed pod heads.
I found my old very rusted string can holder, which seem to set off the mauve shades of the alliums arching across the paper.
This quick sketch, led me later, to work up a full size painting on the growth cycle of my garden alliums, over a period of a couple of weeks; from tightly closed round heads to bursting globular rounds of purple seeds, that fascinate me so much.
It was essential that I had completed this preliminary sketch for this particular painting, that I sold to my neighbour !!
